At work we’re pretty much committed to letting people use a .forward file. I’d like some tool we can run that will harvest all the emails (but not pipes to procmail, vacation, whatever) that people have put in .forward files in an intelligent way. Does such a beast exist or shall I write it? Apparently I fail at google today.

I had 403 messages in my inbox as of Tue, 1 Apr 2008 21:23:15 -0400 (EDT). I now have 3295. /var filled up and postfix got a bit unhappy about that. I had it fixed by 22:54, so theoretically we haven’t lost any legitimate mail, but boy did the floodgates open…. h8 spammers. We got absolutely hammered today. The mail log is already 235M again.

Somebody wandered by the ibiblio office to take our picture for a press release earlier today, and I look ridiculous in it:

Seriously though: it’s an honor to be a part of the team that keeps ibiblio running, and we have far too much fun in this office. I look forward to doing more for ibiblio, UNC, and the wider community through my work here.

I just got this new Zoom H2 Handy Recorder for my birthday. It’s amazing. If you didn’t already look at the link just there, I’ll give you a bit. Go on.

Back? Now do you see why I’m so excited? I’ve already taken it out to play with it:

This thing is ridiculously easy to use, sounds great, and interfaces flawlessly with Ubuntu and Audacity. Time for some open source blogging. This will be immediately useful for ibiblio speakers series interviews, maybe even reference audio for some video. I’m going to have to get a bigger/backup SD card for it–it came with a 512MB card.
