Do you like Larry Lessig? Of course you do! Did you know he might run for Congress? Did you know that he announced he’s considering a run just hours ago and he raised over $1000 in the past half hour via ActBlue? If you’d like to help bring some real change to Congress, I suggest you donate by clicking here.

This is really interesting to me but I’m going to have to wait until he writes about his positions on the issues. We’ve got a large corpus of work from him on a very narrow set of issues at this time.
Two thoughts there:
(1) Waiting is deciding. You’ve decided you don’t want him to run this term if you wait.
(2) His issue is Money/Influence. His video clearly states that he’ll step down after two terms if his constituents feel he’s not having an impact in that area. He may cast interesting votes having to do with other issues, but those would be peripheral. His time and energy would be spent on the $ issue.
He has chosen at this point in time to not be very forthcoming about his stance on the major issues. Yes, he has done a good job of telling you about the things that are most important to him. But he will not be deciding Congress’ agenda. He will be asked to vote on myriad bills with subject matter that doesn’t have much to do with his major pet issues.
For example, what happens if he gets there and becomes a champion of gun control (the single issue that will make me disregard anything else a candidate has to say if they are on the opposite side of the issue from me)?
If he really wants to pull contributions in, he has to step out of the shadows and enumerate where he stands on the other issues that he’s going to be asked to make a decision on. Having just one or two issues to run on is not going to be good enough for the general populace.
You missed the point of his video. The point was to ask who supports his agenda of $ reform enough to support him regardless. He needs to know if he has enough of a base just on that one issue to justify the expense of running, which would entail articulating other positions (as you mention). There’s no reason to articulate all that now because he hasn’t decided whether or not to run yet. You’re demanding to see the blueprints and he hasn’t even decided to build, much less hired an architect yet. Make sense?
To some extent. I’m probably not the kind of person he’s going to want a contribution from at this phase if you’re correct on this.
That he’s running as a Democrat instead of one of the third parties gives me more pause for concern, given the political baggage that goes with almost all of the major party candidates, what it entails to be a democrat (socialist) or republican (fascist) in this day and age.
