buying power — a post for posterity

I don’t often buy gas, so I was again surprised at the price when I got to the pump today. I thought I’d write down a few things you can get for $15 to be able to look back and laugh in 20 years.

  • Half a tank of gas for a ‘93 Nissan Sentra.
  • A large deluxe veggie pizza from Chanello’s in Carrboro
  • A music CD album from Schoolkid’s Records on Franklin Street.
  • A pair of sneakers promoted by Stephon Marbury of the Knicks. Note that this is 1/10th the price of Nike sneakers promoted by other NBA stars.
  • A spindle of 40 blank CD-Rs at Student Stores on UNC’s campus.
