I just got the first targeted advertising that I’ve ever actually appreciated. It’s a piece of snail mail from Sprint, and the whole pamphlet is completely bilingual–but not in the normal way. Most such advertisements have absolutely everything repeated in both languages. This one has about half in one language and about half in the other, with only the essential data (where to go on the web, what phone number to call) repeated with tags in both languages. The fine print is also repeated.
Some example text:
¿Dónde vas a estar este “Spring Break”?
Rocking the world. En la playa, en la discoteca y en todas partes.
What a pleasant surprise. ![]()
